Is there anything special to know about upgrading?
Can you overwrite joomla files with new joomla release? Or is it advised to download new bitnami installer and have it install over the old one?

Hi chaking,

We are working on this, but development is still in an early stage.

Right now we don’t officially support upgrading, I mean, the new installer won’t install over an old installation. The safest way to go is to follow Joomla! documentation on upgrading (http://help.joomla.org/component/option,com_easyfaq/task,cat/catid,225/Itemid,268/)

Hi,

I tried to figure out how to upgrade the latest build (1.5.6) to 1.5.8 using the official Joomla documentation. In short there seems to be permission problems with a few of the files that are copied over my existing Bitnami installation (fresh 1.5.6 on OSX 10.5.5). I´m a total noob to Joomla so that is the most obvious cause to the problem;) but if anyone finds the time to write up an upgrade FAQ for the Bitnami stack, it would be most appreciated. Thanks for making Open Source hassle-free!
