Hi

This problem concerns the attempted installation of Tracks on my (one) computer which runs under Windows XP Home SP2. I should say at the outset that this is my first experience of major open-source software like this and that, compared with other members of this forum and fraternity, my knowledge of what goes on inside the black box beside my desk approaches 0, perhaps 1.

Having stumbled upon what looks like a marvellous program, I downloaded the BitNami Tracks Stack and installed it, using default locations, etc.. Everything went well, “setup completed” on screen, when up pops a Windows (I think) error message: “BitRock Intallbuilder for Windows has encountered a problem and needs to close.” I Ok’d it, the popup disappeared and the Tracks login screen appeared, but I could not log in.

After some kind advice from jjleonard.co.uk, I uninstalled and re-installed twice more, receiving and noting the following details on the error message which followed the same sequence as described above.

Error signature
AppName: bitnami-tracks-1.5-windows-installer.exe
AppVer; 1.0.0.0
Modname: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0
Offset: 0dbc12a2 (subsequently 0db412a2)

Does this indicate what the problem might be?

I would be most grateful for any help or advice.

yours
Brian

Hi Brian,

Thank you for reporting the problem. In order to solve it, can you provide us more information about it? It would be perfect if you can mail us the installation log to manuel@bitnami.org, which is located at:

C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR-USER-NAME\Local Settings\Temp\bitrock_installer_*.log

What happens when you try to log in? What error message do you get?

kind regards

Hi Manuel

Many thanks for taking this on.

The log file you ask for is on its way via e-mail.

There is no error message as such after an unsuccessful login; just another blank “please log in” screen.

regards
Brian

Dear Manuel

I really don’t know how to tell you this, but—I have managed to log in at last. One last attempt before finishing for the night and bang, there it was. This was achieved via the Start menu (Launch BitNami) which I do not think I tried before (duh), thinking, probably, that it wasn’t really the Tracks program.

Please accept my apologies if you’ve had a wild goose chase on my behalf today, though I guess the error message problem still obtains.

Again, many thanks for your very prompt response.

regards
Brian
